Open Mesh Steel Gratings consist of a number of Flat Bars (also known as "Main Bars" or "Load Bearing Bars") which are sat
on their narrowest edges and are held together by either a twisted wire or smaller flat bar (also known as "Transverse Bars"), which runs at right angles.

The Strength of the Grating is determined by the Thickness of the Bearing Bars, The Depth of the
Bearing Bars
and how far the Grating is required to 'Span'.
It is very important that each end of the "Load Bearing Bars" are supported.
The diagram below shows Two Universal Beams with the "Load Bearing Bars" being supported at each end. (Grating`s Length), and it is
this that gives Open Mesh Flooring it`s Strength.
Turning the grating at right angles would result in the small twisted wires taking the load and this could
result in serious injury.
It is always important to check but especially when gratings are made in 1000 mm x 1000 mm Square Panels.
Please see load tables in our brochure or call to discuss your requirements, we will always be happy to assist.
